Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Drift app and the makereal.net website. It’s written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us — the address is at the bottom.

What Drift stores

When you log an episode in Drift, the app saves what you enter: what set it off, where your attention went, and when it happened. That data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. There is no account to create and no server involved — Drift doesn’t know who you are, because it never asks.

If you use Drift’s Apple Watch app, episodes logged there are sent to your iPhone using Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework — a direct connection between your own paired devices. That data never passes through a server we operate. Drift’s optional Stillness feature reads your step rate from your iPhone’s or Apple Watch’s motion sensor while a session you started is running; that reading isn’t stored or logged anywhere unless you choose to log it as an episode.

What we collect

Nothing. Drift has no analytics, no crash reporting service, and no third-party SDKs. We don’t receive your journal entries, and we have no way to see them. There is nothing on our end to lose, because nothing is sent to us in the first place.

Backups

Because your entries live in Drift’s on-device storage, they’re included in whatever backup system you already use for your iPhone — iCloud Backup or a local computer backup, depending on your settings. Those backups are protected by Apple’s encryption, not by us; we have no access to them. Turning off backups for Drift, or for your device generally, is controlled entirely through iOS.

Deleting your data

Deleting an entry in Drift deletes it from the app’s local storage. Deleting the app removes everything Drift stored on your device. If your device backups included that data before deletion, it may persist in older backups until those backups are themselves deleted or overwritten — that’s standard iOS backup behavior, not something Drift controls.

Children

Drift isn’t directed at children and we don’t knowingly collect information from children. In practice this is largely moot: Drift doesn’t collect information from anyone, of any age.

This website

makereal.net is a static website. It doesn’t set cookies, run analytics, or load any tracking or advertising scripts. It doesn’t ask you to fill out a form. The only thing that happens when you visit is that our hosting provider’s servers log the request, the way most web servers do — standard entries like IP address and timestamp, kept for security and reliability. We don’t use those logs to identify visitors, and we don’t combine them with anything else.

Email correspondence

If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can respond to you and maintain a record of past support conversations. We don’t share or sell it.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if what Drift does changes. In particular, this policy describes Drift as it works today: local storage only, no accounts, no cloud sync — the device-to-device Apple Watch transfer described above is the only kind of syncing Drift does, and none of it leaves your own devices. If we add cloud sync, backup, or an account feature in the future, we’ll rewrite this policy to explain exactly what that feature does with your data before it ships, not after.
